Don't look now iPad: Google unleashes another Android.

Google Reveal Nexus 7:

As Google unveiled its Chromecast TV dongle overnight, it also pulled another surprise out of the Android bag - Nexus 7 - a new Asus tablet running Android 4.3.

Google says its updated Nexus 7 HD display is the 'world's highest-resolution 7-inch tablet' with 323 pixels per inch (1920x1200) - promising sharper images on the Full HD IPS screen.

"Together with ASUS, we took what you loved about the original Nexus 7 and made it even better" writes Sundar Pichai, SVP, Android, Chrome & Apps on Google's blog, announcing the Nexus overnight.

Nexus 7 also has impressive specs: quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 3D graphics.

It supports WiFi and (optional) 4G LTE networks, 1.2MP front facing camera with a 5MP rear, NFC (Android Beam) for touch n tap technology, Bluetooth 4.0.

4.3 also supports Bluetooth Smart technology, allowing apps that connect to devices like fitness sensors.

It is also lighter than first Nexus 7 at 290g, stereo speakers and virtual surround sound from Fraunhofer ( the MP3 inventors). Not bad for a tab that sells for US$229, although no local pricing is confirmed yet.

Its battery life promises nine hours of HD video playback and 10 hours of web browsing.

So, what new in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean?

Nexus 7 is the first device with the new Android 4.3. It introduces restricted profiles, which let owners limit apps and other content viewed by other users, and enables parental controls.

Each user has a separate customizable space, including personal homescreens, wallpaper, apps, storage.

It can also be used for business and retailers says Pichai.

"Retail stores can use tablets to show off product information, and shops can use tablets as point of sale systems."

Android 4.3 is rolling out to Nexus devices starting today, Google confirmed.

Nexus 7 will go on sale in U.S on July 30 with "more countries coming soon".
