New Cyber-shot RX100 II has NFC, Wi-Fi and tilt LCD screen

After releasing a new generation of 4K TV's, Ultrabooks including the "worlds thinnest", Sony turn their magic to cameras.

Building on the multi-award winning RX100, the new Cyber-shot RX100 II is a little pocket rocket camera with some seriously good specs for the mobile generation, including WiFi and NFC technology

Other specs include: newly developed back-illuminated Exmor R 1.0" CMOS sensor increases sensitivity so good for shots in low-light environments, f1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens, Full HD video.

RX100 II has WiFi and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, for touch 'n tap and 'pairing' devices - so you can transfer, share photos online by touching your Android smartphone or tablet to the camera.

This is a first  for a Sony cam, which is $100 more than its predecessor, at $899.

It also boasts 'one-touch' remote lets you control the RX100 II's trigger and zoom the camera from your smartphone or tablet, and a 3" White Magic LCD that now tilts up and down (84 degrees upand 45 degrees down) for high and low shots.

This allows users "hold the camera high up to reach over crowds, or get down low and see things from the perspective of pets and children," say Sony.

Finally, the revamped small Sony camera has a 'Multi Interface Shoe' that allows users attach optional accessories - including electronic viewfinder, powerful external flash and stereo microphone.

"We're thrilled to bring Australians our first NFC camera packed with all the great features you've come to expect in a Sony pocket camera," said Ervin Quek, Marketing Manager, Digital Imaging at Sony Australia.

"We've listened to our users and have updated the RX100 mark 2 with improved specs like the new Exmor R CMOS sensor which lets you take stunning pictures, even in low light situations."

The new Cyber-shot RX100 II from Sony will be available mid July 2013 for $899.

The RX100 will continue to be available at $799.
