LG Takes On $599 Samsung Galaxy Tab S With $399 10.1" G Tab

As tipped by SmartHouse LG Australia has entered the tablet market with a new 10" Android tablet that has a $399 recommended retail price Vs $599 for the Samsung model.

Both models are Wi Fi only, run the Android Kit Kat OS and have 16GB of on board storage. The Samsung model has a 1.9GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Octa-core processor while the LG model has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm quad core processor, 1GB of RAM and IPS HD display at 1280x800 megapixels.

The Samsung model also has a 2560x1600 Super AMOLED display. 

LG claims that their display screen uses less battery power and is extremely "bright and sharp". 

The LG G Pad is the largest tablet in the LG tablet range, it will be available from Harvey Norman in black and red while with Betta Electrical and The Good Guys the tablet is only available in Black.

LG is currently selling their 8.3-inch G Pad via Harvey Norman.

The 8.3-inch G Pad, which is available in black or white, has 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage, it also has a 1920x1200 pixel (273ppi) display.

LG claims that users will get around 10 hours of battery life from the 10.1" tablets 8,000 mAh battery.

Other features include the Knock Code home screen lock feature, and QPair, which is meant to handle notifications across multiple Android devices.

LG's also developed its own smart keyboard and offers the ability to split the tablet's screen to run two applications side by side and move content between them.

LG claims that there is a flight back to 10% tablets and that the Australian market will grow at around 26% over the next 12 months.
