Who said phones had to be one sided?

The patent application filed in the US, is called "Method and apparatus for operating functions of portable terminal having bended display".
It shows the various uses a three sided smartphone (a main screen and two sides) would have; slide locking/unlocking, battery indicator, or side screens that's are always on, reports unwired
<div>The side screens could also be commanded via tilt as well as touch gestures.
Having developed a curved smartphone display, called 'Galaxy Round' in Korea, this technology extends on this bendy screen concept.
The patent application states:
"Another aspect of the present invention is to provide a portable terminal having a bended display capable of allowing a user to approach information associated with a screen displayed on a main region using a sub-region of the bended display and improving usability and operation of a user for controlling functions of the portable terminal using the sub-region, and a method of operating functions thereof. "
Samsung is always looking for the next big thing, and revealed a multi-billion dollar war chest to help find it, via R&D and acquisitions, which senior execs pledged to ramp up at a recent investor day.
