Marantz Show Off New Receivers

By Dave Jansen | Friday | 09/10/2009

Marantz has launched two new AV-Receivers which including new Dolby ProLogic IIz technology and the brand new M-XPort connection technology for Bluetooth music transfer. One model has iPod supporting USB input.

Today's Home Cinema experience creates a more real, more tangible, and more absorbing experience than ever before. With superb audio, video quality and multichannel surround sound you can literally 'feel'  the action... becoming almost a part of the movie itself - all from your own living room.

The SR5004 ($1,799 RRP) provides 7 x 100W (10W more than its predecessor) and features decoders for the new Dolby PLIIz standard as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio. Equipped with three HDMI 1.3a inputs and offering Deep Color support and i-Chip video processing for up-scaling to HDMI 1080p.

Marantz claims it effortlessly handles even the most demanding scenes in action films, as well as offering excellent quality music playback from Blu-ray, DVD, CD or via Bluetooth with the optional RX101 connected to the M-Xport (Marantz eXtension Port). Even compressed audio will sound clearer and more detailed thanks to M-DAX (Marantz Dynamic Audio eXpansion) audio restorer, while a host of other features such as Audyssey MultiEQ, and Dynamic Volume, and video off mode will ensure you experience your movies and music in true dynamic Marantz style. Much like its bigger brothers the SR5004 even features multi-room for audio with multi-source flexibility

It's bigger brother, the new SR6004 ($2,299 RRP) offers higher output power with 7 x 110W and with customised main capacitors it is a clear upgrade in audio performance.

In addition to offering all the technologies of the SR5004, the SR6004 features four HDMI inputs for digital sources and two selectable HDMI outputs for connection of two video displays (i.e. projector and an flat screen). An upgraded USB input (compared with the predecessor SR6003) on the front panel is subtly hidden behind the solid aluminium folding panel.

Not only accepting standard USB drives and iPods … now you can even see your track selection on your main display device …all on a completely re-designed Marantz on-screen coloured graphic user interface (GUI).

The sound quality from your iPod or USB memory key is increased with "M-DAX" technology, which guarantees enhanced sound quality... even from compressed audio!

The SR6004 is supplied with the RX101 Bluetooth receiver - that connects to the new M-Xport (as per new SR5004 model). What this means is that you can enjoy your entire music library from your mobile phone or even access the music you have stored on your home desktop / laptop PC right there on your main system. And the nicest thing is you can do this all without the hassle of setting up a network connection. Just activate Bluetooth on your source device and start pairing. Within a minute the connection is established and music can be enjoyed. No Bluetooth on your system but you have a USB port? No need to worry - just get an external USB Bluetooth dongle supporting A2DP and put it to your PC.

Enjoy music in more than one room with Marantz Multi-room functionality on both SR5004 and SR6004. SR6004 offers extra distribution options with a component video output for a second zone.

The RX101 Bluetooth module is supplied with the SR6004 - and optional ($199 RRP) for the SR5004. It receives wirelessly sent data from devices such as media-players or mobile phones (incl. the iPhone) and even a PC supporting the Bluetooth standard A2DP. The RX101 simply connects to the M-Xport (Marantz eXpansion Port)  on the back of the amp and directs the signal to the AV-Receiver. And since M-XPort also powers the module no additional power adaptor is required.
