Samsung Goes Back To Hi Fi Valves For Better Home Theatre Sound

By David Richards | Tuesday | 27/03/2012

Samsung Australia is using old fashioned valves in a new range of home theatre systems as they claim the technology delivers superior sound.

Specifically designed to deliver "superior audio channels" the valves which look very cool when they glow adds a whole new dimension to the design of the new home theatre.

Samsung has also announced that they are delivering a 24/7 help service which allows consumers to press a button on the networked home theatre kits. This signal is then picked up by a Samsung support consultant who immediately interrogates the device to identify a problem. The service eliminates the need for a technician to do a house call said Samsung.

Among the features found in the new Samsung's 7.1 channel player is Blu-ray 3D home theatre and new vacuum tube amplifier technology that combines both vacuum tubes and a digital amplifier into one unit to create a powerful entertainment experience.

The HT-E6750W model received a CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award at CES 2012 in Las Vegas.

Other features include:

A Samsung's Wireless 3D Blu-ray home theatre system capable of delivering high-quality surround sound and what Samsung describes as "explosive video quality in full HD 1080p"

There is also a Samsung's Surround Sound Bar with 3D Depth Sound - a transformable sound bar speaker system that creates virtual surround sound with intelligent audio technologies (model HW-E551).

Philip Newton, Director of Audio Visual at Samsung Electronics Australia said "We've raised the bar this year in the home theatre market with improved immersive audio sounds and picture quality so that consumers have lots of choices to get an exceptional entertainment experience across multiple devices."

He said that Samsung's intelligent hybrid vacuum tube amplifier technology offers the best of both worlds - the crystal clear sound quality from a digital amplifier with the warm tone qualities of vacuum tubes. In addition, the vacuum tube offers an extra octave of sound with limited distortion.

Samsung's new flagship home theatre systems also offer a high-quality video experience. Both the HT-E6750W and HT-E5550W Home Theatre Systems offer built-in WiFi for easy access to a world of web-connected entertainment via a full web browser, as well as many apps from leading brands such as BigPond Movies and TV, AFL, YouTube and Samsung Music HubTM, via compatible Samsung Smart devices. Users can also choose and manage their social networks via popular services such as YouTube, Skype, and Facebook or Twitter.*

Users are able to up-convert content from DVDs, streaming videos or connected media devices, such as portable players and cameras to full HD 1080p on a compatible full HD screen. Each home theatre system employs a Samsung-developed system-on-a-chip (SoC), which has image quality enhancement algorithms, Samsung's video processor and scaler, and various high definition codecs.
