Presto: Foxtel 'All You Can Eat' Movies Out March

Foxtel CEO reveals new online movie service, Presto, as it makes a massive bid for internet movie  audiences.

After months of speculation, Richard Freudenstein revealed the all-you-can-eat movie service, Presto, at the Australian Broadcasting Digital Media Summit in Sydney, today.

Presto will be live from March 13, streaming movies from seven Foxtel Movies channels including: Premiere, Comedy, Romance, Thriller, Action, Family, Masterpiece, kids as well as on demand titles like Dark Knight Rises, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, golden oldies and curated collections.

There's also recommendations and critics' reviews.

Presto movies are ad-break-free. It is not confined to Foxtel subscribers - it's open to everyone with internet.

A monthly pass costs $19.99 per month via PC, Mac computers and compatible iPads.

The "price per week is equivalent to what they'd pay for just one standard iTunes movie rental," said Freudenstein.

Foxtel are offering Presto for $4.99 for the first month for new customers, in a bid to lure in viewers.

Subscribers can also come and go from Presto on a monthly basis, with no lock-in contract.

Australia's appetite for access to stream content to devices continues to have massive growth, Foxtel said.

Recent figures show it's main growth driver has been in its IPTV service, streaming content to iPads and other devices, via Foxtel Play.

"We've had fantastic feedback since our initial announcement and anticipation from Australians, hungry for a new way to experience great movies, when and where they want, and free from ad-breaks, continues to grow. We're looking forward to Presto taking the stage in the coming weeks," Freudenstein  said at the Digital Media Summit.

"Starting March 13, Australian movie lovers will have access to as many movies as they want from a massive library of cinematic hits for a price per week equivalent to what they'd pay for just one standard iTunes movie rental."

Foxtel Movies offers the best from all the studios including MGM, NBC, Universal, Paramount Pictures, Roadshow Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Hopscotch Entertainment One, ICON, Studiocanal and Transmission Films.
