Belkin is spreading the WeMo love, announcing compatibility with Android 4.0 (or higher) devices with its smart home automation platform

Android Phones Will Turn Lights Off

The fully functional WeMo app enables users to control home electronics on or off from anywhere from your Android smartphone or tablet using Wi-Fi and 3G/4G

Belkin's WeMo platform already has compatibility with Apple iOS.

Belkin's WeMo Switch (F7C027auAPL) costs $59.95, while the WeMo Switch + Motion (F5Z0340auAPL), lets you turn on and off devices via motion alone for $119.95.

The app also integrates with social media via IFTTT online service that creates automated triggers using Facebook, email, weather

For example, you can use IFTTT to create a rule that will send a text to your phone whenever a WeMo Switch + Motion senses motion. Pretty cool.

"The WeMo range has been very well received in Australia and New Zealand since our launch earlier this year, but we know that local Android users have been waiting for their chance to experience the benefits of WeMo" said Daniel Hall, WeMo product manager, Belkin ANZ.

"Today is an important step in delivering a simple, customizable home control system that can be accessed wherever and whenever, and is necessary for the continued success and evolution of the WeMo range.
