Dicks "Fashtronics" Store Unzips Today

By Oonagh Reidy | Thursday | 03/10/2013

'Move', Dick Smith's new Fashtronics store is to be unveiled in Sydney today.

Move "fashtronics" store fuses fashion and mobile consumer electronics and will launch at a media event later today.

The trendy store, the first of its kind for Dick Smith, is located on the Ground floor at Westfield in Sydney's Bondi Junction.

It will open to the public this Saturday.

It's a test store and the retailer is hoping to rollout more Move stores, a source told CN.

The theme of Move is 'mobility' - everything from smartphones, tablet covers including ones specially designed by Aussie designers Romance is Born for Move are to be sold exclusively at the store.

Aussie model and fashion blogger Alexandra Spencer, will help launch the Move store today and is plugging technology gear which she curated.

The store is tapping into the new breed of mobile accessories -  including the likes of Samsung's new Gear smartwatch, Jawbone UP and other mobile accessories such as bags and covers that are gaining in popularity.

Judging from the media invitation image, it is likely Move will sell the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 'phablet', tablets and smartphones.

Dick Smith, which has undergone an image transformation itself, of late, is aiming Move's gear at "the brand conscious, who want their technology with a twist of individuality and style."

Tech has been getting trendy for some time now - model Kate Moss has just designed a line of mobile covers for Carphone Warehouse in the UK, and urban brand Diesel and Monster have collaborated on headphones just launched in OZ.
