Watch Out Apple: Samsung 'Gear' Hits Sept


The mobile giant is to launch Galaxy Gear watch at Samsung Mobile UNPACKED Episode 2 2013 on Sept. 4, two days before the IFA is to kick off in Berlin, a source told Bloomberg. 

Samsung Mobile blog tip the Android-based watch will sport a 1.67-inch display, run Samsung Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM, 2MP camera and Bluetooth, NFC.

Reports also suggest 'Gear' wont have a flexible display, as tipped. 

Samsung Galaxy Gear is described as "wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band, or bangle capable of providing access to the Internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages," according to a trademark filing, dated July 29. 

The smart watch is designed for "keeping track of or managing personal information; smart phones; tablet computers; portable computers." 

Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 phablet is said to be revealed the same day, tipped to have a larger display than the current 5.5" inch model, run Android 4.3, and have larger battery.

The news comes as several majors including Apple, are set to get into the smartwatch 'wearable tech' market, tipped the be the next big thing in consumer tech.
