By Michelle Starr | Thursday | 28/01/2010

Panasonic has introduced two new entry-level models in its 2010 Lumix line-up—the 12.1-megapixel DMC-F3 and the 10.1-megapixel DMC-F2, designed to provide ease-of-use and accessibility to everyday users.

Both models are equipped with a wide-angle 28mm Lumix DC Vario lens, perfect for capturing landscapes or large groups of family and friends, with s 4x optical zoom. They also make use of Auto-Scene Mode, which automatically detects the type of scene the photographer is trying to capture and activates shoot-assist functions for the perfect shot.

Auto Scene's complementary functions are Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection and Intelligent Scene Selector. Intelligent ISO Control detects if a subject is moving and automatically adjusts the shutter speed and ISO setting accordingly. Face Detection makes sure that faces are in focus and exposed perfectly and corrects red-eye. Scene Selector automatically selects one of five scene modes—Macro, Portrait, Scenery, Night Portrait and Night Scenery.

Tanya Mudge, Product Marketing Manager—LUMIX, Panasonic Australia said, "The introduction of the F Series means everyday users looking for an easy-to-use and accessible camera now have two stylish, quality LUMIX choices that will provide years of enjoyable, beautiful photography at an affordable price.

"The introduction of HD movie recording and a 28mm wide angle lens in the DMC-F3 offers entry level photographers a feature-rich camera that will prove to be a valuable photographic companion."

Other features include a Digital Image Stabiliser to suppress the natural shaking from holding a camera, a high resolution LCD screen and a HD recording capability in 720p Motion Jpeg.

Both cameras will be available in March 2010. The Lumix DMC-F3 will be available in silver, black or pink for $199 and the Lumix DMC-F2 in silver, black or light pink for $169.
