Olympus is looking to shore up its finances after a $1.7 billion accounting fraud was exposed recently that severely depleted its net assets.
The new Olympus OM-D is a tribute to the OM-4 with the retro look and a tall box above the lens. Instead of a mirror system the camera will have a 1.44-megapixel electronic viewfinder along with a battery grip for the camera.
A backward tilting OLED display is also part of the new offering.
It also has an upgraded 16-megapixel sensor, five-axis image stabilisation, and a weatherproof body.
The new camera will be launched on Wednesday at the Museum of Contemporary Art, in Sydney's Rocks area.
