  US HDMI Cables Slammed

By David Richards | Tuesday | 08/09/2009

Most HDMI cables available in the USA ” use manufacturing techniques dating back to 2003" a former HDMI Licensing executive has claimed. This results in poor reproduction he claims.

Most HDMI cables available on the north American market" use manufacturing techniques dating back to 2003 a leading Australian cord cable has claimed.

The controversial statement which was made by Michael Schaller, the newly appointed Director of Kordz USA and a former director of the US HDMI Licensing group follows a recent survey by Choice which revealed that premium cables made by US Companies Belkin and Monster Cable were not of a "high quality" when compared to cheaper versions made by several Chinese Companies and sold as own brand labels by the likes of Dick Smith.

"We believe innovation is all but dead when it comes to building the HDMI cables currently available on the US market," Mr. Schaller said today.

Kordz is set to use the US CEDIA event this week to launch its new "mechanically inventive" EVX series cable.

"The high purity, silver plated Kordz HDMI cables have been specifically designed to pair with high end AV devices, meeting the latest stringent international demands of HDMI ‘High Speed' compliance even at long lengths, and will carry a " lifetime warranty."

M. Schaller, a 25 year industry veteran was most recently the man in charge of world-wide technical compliance and the interoperability work group for HDMI Licensing LLC.

"In my previous position I was able to gain considerable insight into HDMI standards worldwide – and in my opinion Melbourne based Kordz seems to be one of very few cable manufacturers, perhaps the only manufacturer, currently being innovative when it comes to HDMI cables – which is why I agreed to head up their USA operation," Mr. Schaller said.

Kordz GEN 4 HDMI will be officially released in 1-5m lengths.

"If you look at the innovative Kordz B.O.S.S. termination method, for example, which uses direct connect, cold solder, solid core, and flat profile - you will not see anything else like it on the market today," Mr. Schaller said.

David Meyer the CEO of Kordz said he believed the innovative Kordz EVX series will be an immediate hit with installers and retailers alike.

He d claimed that the  following benefits applied.

·        "Innovation - connectors that won't simply fall out",

·        "Innovation - vastly improved flexibility to make installations easier, especially in tight spaces",

·        "Innovation - superior termination methods to not only improve bandwidth, but also improve the cable's mechanical integrity and longevity, backed by a lifetime warranty",

·        "Genuine products as Kordz is a direct licensee of HDMI Licensing, LLC".
